For medical help such as changing dressings, providing post-surgical rehabilitation, overseeing medications, aiding with physical therapy, or helping with mobility devices, you'll want home health care provided by caregiver who's gone through training and is being supervised by a nurse. (Keep in mind that licensing and certification requirements vary by state; you'll want to ask lots of questions about your caregiver's qualifications.)

Medications delivered directly to the brain. Doctors may insert a long, thin tube (catheter) through an artery in your groin and thread it to your brain to deliver tPA directly into the area where the stroke is occurring. This is called intra-arterial thrombolysis. The time window for this treatment is somewhat longer than for intravenous tPA, but is still limited.

Surgical AVM removal. Surgeons may remove a smaller AVM if it's located in an accessible area of your brain, to eliminate the risk of rupture and lower the risk of hemorrhagic stroke. However, it's not always possible to remove an AVM if its removal would cause too large a reduction in brain function, or if it's large or located deep within your brain.

Dementia In-Home Care is a complete in-home service for clients showing signs of dementia. Whereas Alzheimer’s disease can be specifically diagnosed, ‘dementia’ is the general term used to describe symptoms which include cognitive decline and memory loss. Alzeimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and Huntington’s disease are a few known causes of dementia symptoms.
Population ageing is a challenge across the world, and China is no exception. Due to the one-child policy, rural/urban migration and other social changes, the traditional long-term care (LTC) for the elderly which was through direct family care in the past will no longer suffice. Barely existent now, both institutional and community-based services are expanding to meet the growing need. China is still at an earlier stage in economic development and will be challenged to build these services and train staff.[37]

Delivery:  Delivery is the prompt transport of the patient to a hospital, preferably a stroke center. Emergency medical personnel should be trained in performing a rapid assessment of the patient’s condition. If a stroke is suspected, the patient should be transported to an appropriate receiving hospital as soon as possible. A medical history and baseline mental status should be documented. The time since onset of symptoms should also be noted and is referred to as ‘time zero’, or the last time the patient was seen to be normal. Emergency medical workers need to provide pre-arrival information to the receiving facility so that the ED can prepare for the arrival of a potential stroke patient.

This most basic (and often most affordable) type of in-home care generally includes light housekeeping, companionship, meal preparation, and help with errands. You can hire help to come on a regular weekly schedule or only as needed. Expect to pay about $15-$40/hour for this type of service, depending where you live.

UT Southwestern evaluates these innovative treatments for effectiveness and often then becomes the first hospital in North Texas to offer them. Speak with our doctors about clinical trial opportunities for patients who have had strokes.
I tell my patients if you don’t remember anything in the weeks you’ve been here as an inpatient, the one thing I want you to remember is to see your primary care doctor for regular follow-ups and checkups. Your primary care doctor is essential to your recovery from a stroke, and can make sure your medication needs and health issues are being attended to properly.

According to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s website, numerous published studies demonstrate the Get With The Guidelines®- Stroke program’s success in improving patient outcomes. Since it started in 2003, more than 2,000 hospitals have entered more than 5 million patient records into the Get With The Guidelines®- Stroke database.

Drug/Device: Drug administration, if appropriate, is the next link in the chain of survival. If the patient is a candidate for fibrinolytic therapy, the window of opportunity for administration is narrow. According to the American Heart Association guidelines, fibrinolytic therapy should be administered within three hours of the onset of symptoms. If the patient is not a candidate for drug therapy they may qualify for Endovascular therapy to remove the clot mechanically rather than with fibrinolytics.

This app comes equipped with a calendar, to-do list, and notes built in, so you don’t have to jump between these separate apps on your device. It will connect the things you use most in life, like utilities, service providers, banks, and social networks, and then it will automatically tell you what you need to do. In that sense, it’s very similar to an actual personal assistant, who might be tasked with managing your schedule and keeping things running on time. 24me is available on Google Play and the iTunes app store.

Perelman Center for Emergency Service, which serves as the first line of urgent care for patients that are suspected of having a stroke. A stroke alert prompts a team of experts from our center to come to a patient’s bedside within minutes to confirm or rule out a stroke, allowing treatment and rehabilitation to begin as soon as possible.
Using state-of-the-art technologies, we care for some of the most complex stroke cases seen anywhere. Our experienced teams – including board-certified physicians, physical and occupational therapists, certified rehabilitation registered nurses and neuropsychologists – work in hospital, skilled nursing and at-home settings. Best Personal Care is a wonderful facility. I put my father at this facility 10 months ago. The staff at Best Personal Care communicated consistently and helped my father to become independent again. They made sure that he took all his meds and took him to his doctor appointments. They also were very helpful in making sure that he had continuous activities to help keep his mind occupied. I highly recommend Best Personal Care. Arnie and Anglelina are very caring people. My father has been to many other facilities that were not near as proactive with his care. Best Personal Care lives up to their name and made a big difference in helping my father to get better and be able to live independently again.
